What is Insulated Concrete Formwork?

Already widespread in USA, Canada and parts of Europe, it is a contemporary construction method that uses lightweight hollow block units made from insulating materials, such as polystyrene and woodcrete, into which concrete is poured to create a strong and robust structure with a highly efficient thermal and acoustic performance compared to other construction methods.

This performance is achieved thanks to the thermal mass of the concrete and the integral insulation of the blocks, meaning there’s no cavity like a traditional masonry wall.
