What is Civil Engineering?
As defined by the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE): “Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment.”
“Civil” engineering was initially coined to distinguish it from military engineering. The profession is traditionally broken into sub-disciplines, including environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, and water resources engineering.
As consulting civil engineers, the AWA team strives to find pragmatic and innovative ways for the natural and built environment to work together in harmony.
Do you need a Civil Engineer for your project?
Civil engineering is really an umbrella term for all sorts of construction related engineering and, as such, any project will need to engage the services of a civil engineer at some point.
