The Great Barn

At AWA, we take pride in delivering creative and sensitive structural solutions for heritage properties. The Great Barn in Stanton St Bernard, Marlborough, is a prime example. This detached, 5,113-square-foot thatched barn is a striking period property, rich in history and character. Working in partnership with Milton Architects, we were appointed as structural engineers to support a substantial refurbishment and extension of the property. The brief was to create more living space and bring in additional natural light through new floor-to-ceiling glazing — while maintaining the integrity of the historic structure.
