Haslar Marina underwent redevelopment with the aim of modernising its infrastructure to meet rising demand from leisure boaters. The upgrade sought to increase deep-water berths, improve shelter and wave protection, and enhance shore-side facilities — including improved parking, boat-care services, launch access and drainage — helping transform the marina into a full-service, future-proof destination.
As structural, marine and civil engineers, we at AWA were responsible for several critical elements. We designed a new reinforced-concrete slipway with pontoon support piles, enabling safe and efficient boat launching and recovery, and extended the car-parking area with appropriate surface build-up, kerb detailing and layout for increased vehicular activity. We also designed a dedicated boat-care washdown facility featuring washdown water drainage, and screening structures for environmental control. To accommodate increased usage across the site, we upgraded the overall drainage systems. In addition, we delivered remedial designs for the existing steel breakwater structure to ensure its long-term integrity under updated loading and wave-climate conditions.
These combined improvements have enabled a fully integrated marina experience, supported increased berthing capacity and enhanced onshore facilities. Collectively, the works have elevated Haslar Marina’s overall offering — improving resilience, capacity and value for berth holders alike.
