1. Lightweight

The panels are made with polystyrene insulation sandwiched between engineered timber boards known as Oriented Strand Board (OSB).

This design reduces the overall weight of the panels, while still providing strength and insulation. The lightweight nature of SIPs makes them ideal for projects in remote or hard-to-access areas as they are easier to transport.

2. Reduction in build time

SIPs are quick to assemble compared to traditional building materials such as masonry. Building with these materials requires multiple steps before the insulation can be added. With SIPs, the insulation is already in place which saves time. Their lightweight makeup also means fewer construction workers are needed to fit the material.

A project that might take six months with traditional materials could be completed in as little as three months using SIPs.

3. Energy efficient

Panels can be up to 200mm thick and are constructed with polystyrene foam, which is one of the best insulators on the market today.
